Photos From AFF Suzuki Cup Final 2nd Leg

Hi again folks. I just read the Harian Metro column via their official website and found 2 more photos of the achievement our national football team has last night. I just laughed while looking at the main page. Hehehe..

*The main page*

*Champions*

Since it's been declared tomorrow is a public holiday for us, I'm getting bored in the office already. Oh, and sleepy too. Hahaha.. Where are you folks celebrating the new year? Remember, be safe.

CAMPIONE, CAMPIONE, OLE OLE OLE!!!

CAMPIONE, CAMPIONE, OLE OLE OLE!!! CHAMPIONS!!! CHAMPIONS!!! It echoed throughout the nite as Malaysia were crowned as the Champions of AFF Suzuki Cup after a 4-2 aggregate win in the final against our neighbours, Indonesia. Where did you folks watched the game? Home? Mamak? Dataran Merdeka? I watched the game with my Jalan Eaton family. Had a blast watching the 1st leg there and kinda like a lucky charm too. So I headed there after prayers and bought McDonald's for dinner. Kak Nana & Ieja were already on their Twitter accounts. They just loved reading the tweets regarding the match. Hehehe..

*The Indonesian fans*

It was a hostile atmosphere in the Bung Karno Stadium as Safiq Rahim led his team out into the field. Even though most of Malaysians watched it on tv, we all felt the chills from the crowd in Indonesia. An unrest feeling are always going to be there when we face Indonesia.

*Khairul Fahmi in action*

As the game started, Indonesia went for the attack (as expected) and Malaysia had to hold on and defend. I was quite surprise to see our boys played to wide. There were early scares in the game but Safiq Rahim marshalled the midfield well last night. They boys started to cramped the midfield area and made it difficult for the Indonesians to push forward and made them play the long ball style. I bet everybody feared the worse when we conceded a soft penalty in the 18th minute. The ever so superb Khairul Fahmi made a fantastic save to keep the host at bay. In case you didn't know, he became an instant hit at Facebook and Twitter. Updates by Malaysians on Twitter and Facebook hit an all time high. Girls just keep daydreaming about him. Ok, back into the game. Malaysia had another scare. Had Amar Rohidan not headed off Ridwan's lob in first half stoppage time, with the aid of the cross bar, Malaysia would have trooped off at half-time with their lead slashed.

Malaysia parked their blue bus well and in second half, and out of the blue we took the lead with a great counter attack goal by Safee Sali (Selangor legend to be, surely). He was focused and let fly a deadly left footed drive into the back of the net. GgGgGoOoOAaAaLLLL!!!4-0 on aggregate!!! I thought that's it, it's done, we're Champions. I was proved wrong as Indonesians pulled a goal back and then took the lead. Suddenly it's 2-1 with just 10 minutes left. As they say in football, anything can happen. Those last 10 minutes felt like an hour. Everyone was stressed out and praying that our boys maintain the composure and focus. When the final whistle finally came, FuUuUuhHhH.. Everybody felt relief that the boys has done the whole nation proud by becoming Champions.

HEROES, every single one of them. From the outstanding goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi, to the back four led by the 21 year old Muslim Ahmad at the heart of the defence, to Safiq Rahim who marshalled the midfield area like no other and to the deadly finishing of Safee Sali. Not forgetting the coach, K. Rajagopal and his staff, who did tremendously well in bringing up the boys. Dude, they ROCK!!!

*Champions*

Even Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd & England defender) had this to say to our boys via his Twitter account - @rioferdy5 "Congratulations 2 Malaysia who beat Indonesia in the Suzuki cup final. I played against Malaysian u23 team 18 months ago, quite a good team". Echoing on Jason Lo's shout from Twitter yesterday, he believed that our Harimau Muda boys has a chance in qualifying for the World Cup soon!!! I believe it too!!! But let's focus on the Asian Cup first. And we cannot let this amazing team lose their heads. Success is very sweet. But retaining the title will be the biggest task.
MALAYSIA BOLEH!!! BOLEH MENANG!!!

*Safee Sali, Golden Boot Winner*

I would have to say that a number of Indonesian fans showed their true sportsmanship as they didn't leave the stadium straight away. They congratulated their own team for their performances leading up to the final and also congratulated Malaysia as the Champions. A big thank you to them for making it a memorable AFF Suzuki Cup. Not forgetting Bambang Pamungkas (former Selangor legend) who also showed his true sportsmanship by congratulating our boys and also had few words with Safee Sali (Selangor connection it seems). My dear friend Rizal would probably be saluting me for mentioning Selangor in this post. Hahaha..

A (not so) Surprise Birthday Party

My brother celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday (Alhamdulillah) and there was a small birthday party prepared for him. His wife, Kina, and her family had planned out the party but it turned out, he came back too early from his office which caught everyone by surprise (lain kali, kasi lah warning dulu..penat Kina plan..hehe).

Anyway, our families gathered for this special event and there was plenty of foods. There's nasi goreng, spaghetti, BBQ chicken, hot dogs, cakes (obviously) etc. I managed to take some photos at the party but it was before it all started. I was so hungry til i forgot to take some during it. Hahaha.. The food was as usual A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Ate til I wanna burst. Huhuhu..

Many of our friends came too. Fashah and Man even sang some songs as there was a karaoke session going on. Hahaha.. Oh and I got a great tip from Kina's mum yesterday too. She said, "Nanti awak nak kahwin, make sure one week sebelum birthday awak. Boleh dapat double present". I like that idea. Hehehe..

One more thing folks, special thanks to a certain someone who brought the cake. Even though it was the wrong cake at first, but she went back and got the right one (I admire your huge gesture). I believe Secret Recipe got a telling off from my friend. Huhu.. Anyway, at the end of the day, everyone was happy.

Birmingham vs Man Utd, St Andrews Stadium

Oh well, what else can I say? Teams will drop points during the Christmas period. It's been said time and time again. That's what exactly happened to my beloved Man Utd when they faced a resilient Birmingham City early this morning (Malaysia time zone). United couldn't keep a clean sheet and wasted scoring opportunities in the game. We should've won but it just didn't go our way. Yeah people can say the goal should not stand due to a handball leading up to it but the fact is we didn't convert those scoring chances and we paid the price. Next stop, is away to West Brom. Another club that we should not take easily. Earlier this season we weren't able to beat them.

*Lee Bowyer levels it on the 90th minute*

It just kills me to even look at the photo above. Sigh.. Anyway, have a great day ahead folks. I know I won't be smiling in the office today. Hahaha..

Indonesia vs Malaysia, AFF Suzuki Cup Final 2nd Leg

Fear them not. Those are the words printed across The Star newspaper for tonight's decider in AFF Suzuki Cup Final 2nd Leg. Malaysia is in pole position to claim the prestigeous cup after leading the 1st Leg at 3-0 but by no means we're there already. There's still a long way to go and the team has to be prepared both mentally and physichally. Our players MUST NOT lose focus and composure. As the blaming game continues to be talked about the laser thingy in the Indonesian press and also Twitter, which became no. 1 threading in Twitter (search for malaysiacheatlaser), let's just focus on the bigger picture which is..THE GAME itself. I personally would like to wish the Malaysian team all the very best and good luck for tonight. We, the Malaysian fans, will cheer you guys on til the final whistle. MALAYSIA BOLEH!!! BOLEH MENANG!!!

Review Of The Day: Blackberry Bold 9780

Hi folks. It's time for my very first review in this brand new blog. It's about the new Blackberry Bold 9780. I've played aorund with the device a few times and I found that it has its own flaws comparing from the previous Bold devices. Have a quick look on the review below. Personally, I'd prefer Torch 9800. Hehehe..

Blackberry Bold 9780 Summary

Pros
* Black look is really a nice touch.
* Doesn't mess with the 9700 keyboard success (mainly trackpad)
* Blackberry OS 6
* More memory and megapixels than its predecessor 9700

Cons
* Need a way to disable the homescreen views on BlackBerry 6 (a lot of accidental scrolling going on).
* BlackBerry 6 really makes you wish there was a touchscreen and a bit more screen size to work with.
* Doesn't mess with the success of the 9700 enough - hard to get excited about minor improvements.

Bottom Line
The BlackBerry Bold 9780 improves upon the already-awesome BlackBerry Bold 9700 by adding more memory, a better camera, and the new BlackBerry 6 operating system right out of the box. BlackBerry 6 brings with it a lot of improvements and new features, including a faster web browsing experience, but also makes you wish the 9780 featured a touchscreen - BB6 wants to be touched!

Arsenal vs Chelsea, Emirates Stadium

My Drog will bite you. Those are the words from the Chelsea boss, Carlo Ancelotti. Or should i say Ancelotto, as seen below from an article posted by The Star newspaper a few days ago. Check it out below.

*Picture courtesy of NST (taken by my Blackberry)*

Wow!!! What an error by the columnist. I guess Mr Ancelotto, OoOps, I mean Ancelotti must be sick eating his own words now after a crushing defeat at the hands of the young Gunners. The game ended 3-1. Talk about trying to scare your opponents with your big words for your big man. It definitely backfired. Full praise to the Gunners and an old buddy of mine in SC is definitely smiling all the way to his office. Hahaha..Congrats to Cesc Fabregas for making a great return from injury and playing a major role in dismantling the Chelsea midfield trio.

Finally, the title race is just heating up. It ain't over just yet. It's going to be a bumpy road ahead from now on. Til next time folks. See ya!!!

Malaysia vs Indonesia, AFF Suzuki Cup Final 1st Leg

There was no escape in today's newspapers. Everywhere you look around, there's pictures of the Malaysian football team. That's right folks. You can not NOT talk about the team's latest triumph. BUT do not write off the Indonesians just yet. Their speed and will to win should be be written off easily, even though we have a comfortable 3 goal cushion going into the 2nd leg. Full praise to the magnificent coach K. Rajagopal for making a superb tactical change in the second half. It was a tactical genius that led to the all out attack in the second period. The crowd of close to 70,000 screaming and roaring on the Malaysian Tigers did not disappoint either. They showed our neighbours that the Bukit Jalil Stadium is indeed our fortress. Even my Jalan Eaton family was watching the game. Kak Nana & Ieja busy tweeting about the game. It even made Kak Nana google-ing about the goalkeeper, when he unceremoniously walked out from the pitch. A controversial laser beaming into the eyes of the Indonesian players was a small setback from a glorious night of great football. Other than that, my wish is that the coach and the players do not lose their heads and think that it's over. We have another 90 minutes to complete the job. Win it, and you'll be remembered as Malaysia's revival from the football world. MALAYSIA BOLEH!!! BOLEH MENANG!!!
