A goal is a goal

Javier Hernandez isn't concerned about how he hits the net - as long as he keeps scoring for United. The 'Little Pea' has yet to net from outside the box for the Reds, sparking comparisons with another of the club's great penalty-box predators, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutch hitman famously took 138 matches to score from outside the area - in a 3-1 victory at Charlton in 2005 - and none of Hernandez's 24 goals has been scored from long distance - even though he smashed some real belters during his time at Chivas.

After getting on the end of Patrice Evra's cross to notch the winner at Everton on Saturday, the 23-year-old has no reason to start looking to do something more spectacular and remains single-minded when it comes to firing the bullets for the champions. Hernandez was asked whether he thinks he can bag a long-range goal this season during an exclusive interview with this month's Inside United.

"You never know!" he replied. "I think part of the reason I haven’t done that yet is because of the instructions I receive from Sir Alex. "My job is play very high, right on the last man. To be honest, I don’t mind how I score goals – whether or not you score from one metre or from the halfway line, it counts the same. A goal is a goal."
