Movie Review : Transformers Dark of the Moon

It’s big metal robot time... and the good news is that blockbusting director Michael Bay has delivered a high-octane bit of fantasy action-adventure that will have Transformers’ fans relishing the film’s vivid 3D entertainment. Granted, the departure of Megan Fox has meant that the sex appeal quota has diminished. But the casting of some double-barrelled sultriness in the curvaceous form of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (British model and girlfriend of Jason Statham) as a love interest for Shia LaBeouf means that she is not massively missed... especially once the special effects kick in.

It’s a pleasure to say that this third film is a great improvement from the last, with Shia LaBeouf really growing into the role of self-appointed liaison between the Transformers and mankind, and the film also benefits from the addition of some fine character actors – such as Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Patrick Dempsey.

With a story that’s not as messy and muddled as the last film, Bay manages to bring a darker and more dangerous tone to the plot.

And when the action kicks off – and boy does it look great on 3D – the film offers up a veritable feast of special effects mayhem.

FINAL CUT:

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a fantastic feast of all-action entertainment... the first big summer blockbuster is one worth catching

The Demise of Newcastle United

What is going on up north in Newcatle Utd??? I'm actually speechless with the farce that has been going on since the bloody American Mike Ashley bought over the club in recent years. It has been a turmoil ever since. I have huge respect for their legion of fans and the club itself. Newcastle Utd is like a religion. You do not want to mess with the Toon Army. If you mess with one of them, you mess with the whole town folks. Let me give you lads an insight of my personal view when the problem started.

First, Mike Ashley. When he decided to buy over the club, there were plenty of promises and dreams he wanted to share with the fans. He even sat with the fans during home matches. Way to suck up to the fans. Then, he fired the late Sir Bobby Robson (a true Geordie) from his beloved boyhood club. How could you do that to him??? He took the club the Champions League and became a top 4 team in the BPL, NOT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP instead!!!

Second, hiring Sam Allardyce. No disrespect to Big Sam for doing wonders with Bolton Wanderers but his style of play is not suitable to the Toon Army. His style of play was robust, target man up front, long ball and yada yada yada... One simple thing, Newcastle DO NOT play like that. They play attractive football. Remember they had Nobby Solano on the right, Laurent Robert on the left, Gary Speed at the centre with Jermaine Jenas, led by their talismanic Captain Marvel Alan Shearer, the rock solid Shay Given between the posts and the list goes on and on and on...

Third, wanting to sell the club. I don't understand why the bloody American Mike Ashley is still the owner of Newcastle Utd??? He wants to sell the club but doesn't want to accept that he may make a loss out of it. I just hope an oil tycoon like the Abu Dhabi Group or another Roman Abramovich in the making buys over the club and pump some deserved money in the club. With Ashley wanting to sell the club, it creates instability towards the team's performance. One of the bloody reason they got relegated in the first place.

Fourth, letting go Kevin Nolan. What the bloody nonsense is that??? The captain was sold to a Championship side??? WTF is that??? He's 28, at the peak of his game, just wanted another extra year from the proposed 2 year extension and he got the boot??? I'm totally on board with Hoey Barton on his remarks that all this is bullsh** and he, Jose Enrique and Jonas Gutierrez is next to leave. You have tons of money from the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool and all you bought was Cabaye and Marveux from Ligue 1 to bolster the squad??? Are you nuts??? I hope they get relagated next season.

Sports Most Charming

We all know how incredibly sexy athletes like Maria Sharapova and Leryn Franco are, but some of us like ‘em sweet and down-to-earth, thank you very much. MSN Sports lists down some of the sweetest, most down-to-earth athletes around. But be warned: they can kick your ass in sports if they need to.

ANA IVANOVIC (TENNIS)
Whether she is returning a forehand, celebrating a point or arguing a line call, there's no denying that Ana Ivanovic is one very adorable hottie. And really; how do you even stop yourself from staring at her?

KIMBERLY LANSING (POKER)
If that's her poker face, we'll stare at it the whole day.

SYLVIA ARNOLD (FOOTBALL)
Sylvia Arnold is super adorable, that we know, but what makes it more interesting is that she has a twin sister - equally as talented and pretty.

MICHELLE WIE (GOLF)
Not only is Michelle Wie one young and talented golfer, she's absolutely down-to-earth charming too. Definitely Hawaii's sweetest.

RIE TANAKA (GYMNASTICS)
We have to admit; it's always a joy to see Rie Tanaka somersaulting on the beams while flashing that megawatt smile of hers.

KIIRA KORPI (FIGURE SKATING)
Kiira Korpi is widely regarded as the world's most beautiful figure skater, thanks very largely to her uncanny resemblance to former Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly. Us? We just can't stop staring.

CAROLINE WOZNIACKI (TENNIS)
How do they expect us to pay attention to the match when you have a pretty young thing like Caroline Wozniacki on the court?

MARIA VERCHENOVA (GOLF)
They call her the Anna Kournikova of golf; we call Maria Verchenova a goddess, who happens to like wearing shorter skirts on the golf course. No complains there.

PEGGY FLEMMING (FIGURE SKATING)
Yeah, she may be 62 right now, but back in the day, former Olympic champion Peggy Flemming is the perfect epitome of a sweet girl-next-door with deadly talent.

MEGHAN GARDLER (BASKETBALL)
There is just something we like about a pretty girl who has exceptional ball control skills. We think it's hot.

TANITH BELBIN (FIGURE SKATER)
As if those half-revealing figure hugging costumes are not distracting enough, pretty figure skaters like Tanith Belbin will definitely tear our attention away from all the action. We want to watch you skate, darn it! Actually, who are we kidding: we are in it for Belbin!

ANNA KOURNIKOVA (TENNIS)
Scientific proven fact: you can't get any sweeter, hotter or sexier than Ms. Anna Kournikova here. It's the rule of the universe, so you would have to deal with it.

English Player : Over Rated & Over Priced!!!

Has the transfer window gone mad in Barclays Premier League? Clubs are scouting from all angles. Be it with the U21 Championships or the rest of the world. Some clubs are also on the look for a new manager. Like Aston Villa and Chelsea. And for some clubs, they've managed to fill the position (Fulham and West Ham).

Let's keep you lads up to date with the latest on-going transfer madness.. Liverpool have reportedly signed Jordan Henderson for £20mil. Phil Jones is on the verge of signing for Man Utd for reportedly £16.5mil. According to further reports, Man Utd should wrap up the signing of Ashley Young for £15mil. Not to mention reports suggesting that David De Gea will sign for Man Utd next month for around £18mil. And Wesley Sneijder and Luka Modric are still linked to Man Utd.

Chelsea looks set to complete the signing of Belgian wonder kid Romelu Lukaku from Anderlect for £20mil in a week's time. They're still linked to the signing of Neymar from Santos and according to reports, for a range of £41mil. It seems like Chelsea will appoint Guus Hiddink as their new manager soon and he wants Wesley Sneijder on board too.

Steve Bruce's Sunderland looks to be pretty active in the market for players too. He has confirmed that he's bid for £12 mil for 3 of Man Utd stars (Wes Brown, John O'Shea and Darron Gibson). Most notably the funds coming from the sale of Darren Bent in January and Jordan Henderson recently.

Marin Jol, the new Fulham manager looks to revive the career of Robbie Keane as he's now a surplus to Tottenham's attack force. He's also looking to let Zoltan Gera return to West Brom. And Clint Dempsey has hinted he's ready to realize his European ambitions with any of the top 4 clubs in BPL. Eiji Kawashima, goalkeeper of Japan has been mentioned to join West Brom too.

Forever Fenomeno : A Tribute to THE Ronaldo

Ronaldo plays his last game of professional football tonight, donning Brazil's yellow jersey in a friendly against Romania.

Brazil manager Mano Menezes will introduce Ronaldo on the half-hour mark and give the World Cup’s all-time leading goal scorer a 15-minute cameo alongside current Brazilian superstars.

The likes of Pato, Robinho, Ganso, Thiago Silva and Neymar are a generation inspired by the pace, flair and exuberance with which Ronaldo played and they’ll be looking to emulate his many achievements this summer at the Copa America, and on Brazilian soil in 2014.

This film looks at how Ronaldo has changed the face of football by comparing two separate eras – B.R. (Before Ronaldo) and A.R. (After Ronaldo). He has redefined what a centre forward can be. This film is a tribute to his legacy.

He will forever be, my favourite striker in the world. Thank you for the greatest moments in football, Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima.

Transfer Talk

With the football season already over, there's nothing much on Tv these days. Okay, I'm  passionate about football so I can't live without it. Some people find it odd that I'm like this but hey, I'm happy. Haha.. Ok enuff bout me. It's transfer talk time!!! Since the transfer window has re-open, let's get a closer look at who's going where and all those gossips swirling around.

First up, Brad Friedel. There was much talk about the 40 year old American leaving Aston Villa. He was rumoured to make a return to Liverpool as a back up keeper for Pepe Reina. Then was rumoured to Spurs. Then to I-don't-know-where-anymore. Well, last week he signed a 2 year contract with Spurs. I wonder what would Huerelho DOH-mes think of his signing? Off to a return to PSV Eindhoven perhaps. And now Spurs want Shawcross? I think Spurs want the whole BPL players in their team.

Other Villans looking to leave are non other than Stewart Downing and Ashley Young. Both stated their desires to play in Europe for the coming 2011/2012 season. Clubs looking for their services are non other than Liverpool and Man Utd respectively. Two wingers looking to join title contenders and reports suggest Sir Alex will wrap up the signing of Young in a few weeks time. I'm not too sure about that. Jordan Henderson is also looking to leave Sunderland for Liverpool but his valuation of £20mil is way over-rated.

Poor old Wenger must have lots of thing on his mind right now. Could've ended a 6-trophyless-years but they blew it big time against Birmingham in the Carling Cup Final. Now he's had his current crop wanting to leave, or want a pay rise. I'm talking about Samir Nasri. No doubt he had a good first half of the season but after that, it's like he was fading away. Now he wants a pay hike and rumoured to be looking for a move to Man Utd. The misfiring Nicklas Bendtner has confirmed that he's definitely leaving Arsenal to claim more first team football. The self-proclaimed second best player in the world is rumoured to Bayern Munich and his agent claims he can easily generate £12mil for Arsenal. I really doubt that.

Well, it looks like there have been movement in the Arsenal camp trying to bring in new blood to the team. I really do hope Wenger spends the money given by the owners. They've been linked with Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid which I think is never gonna happen. It would be dumb if Madrid decides to cash in on Higuain. Another player rumoured to Arsenal is non other than Peter Odemwingie of West Bromwich Albion. Yeah Gunners fan definitely remembers him. He scored 4 goals in 2 games against Arsenal last season. But for just for £4mil? C'mon Wenger. You gotta be joking son!!!

Wesley Sneijder will make a decision soon with regards of his future With Internazionale? It's been reported that Man Utd are keen to bring him as the overhaul continues for Sir Alex and his team. Luka Modric is also been linked with a £25mil move to Red Devils. It has been reported that Sir Alex has met Harry Redknapp personally to push through the transfer. Sir Alex has made public of his intentions to bring in David De Gea for Van der Sar's replacement. Although the young Spaniard has denied any deal has been struck between Atletico Madrid and Man Utd until 1st of July. We'll have to see what goes on at Old Trafford soon.

And then there's the noisy neighbours of the Barclay's Premier League 2010/2011 Champions, Man City. I can honestly say they want Xavi, Iniesta and Messi after their exploits in the Champions League Final. They want Dani Alves and Busquets as well. It's not worth writing about them. They just want all of the players. I can only say 1 thing to Man City and Roberto Mancini for next season: If you don't win a single trophy next season, there's the door Roberto!!! Oh and I'm fed up with this Tevez saga. A greedy and stupid (I might add) Argentinian. Nuff said...

*Lookin' on your way out??*

Movie Review : X-Men: First Class

Last Saturday, I went to watch X-Men: First Class with a few of my buddies at GSC Signature, Mid Valley Gardens. I had to pay RM24 for it. Expensive!!! But it was worth the money. The movie was fabulous capped with great THX surround sound. I read some of the review regarding the movie and I was actually eager to watch it. I am in fact a fan of X-Men since I was a small kid. I know most of the storyline from the comics but I prefer to keep an open mind for the comic book adaptation into a movie.

The movie focuses on the early discovery of mutants and the beginning of X-Men. At the helm, there's 2 close friends, Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto and Charles Xavier aka
Professor X. A lil bit of scoop here.. Xavier can still walk, has hair, Lehnsherr helmet-less, they met Wolverine at a bar (ooppps that's a spoiler), Mystique is still young (and hot too) and how Xavier and Lehnsherr don't see eye to eye.

I was really impress with Michael Fassbender's acting who plays Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto. He showed what was going through Magneto's emotion and I applaud him for doing it really well. Anger and hate but still has compassion towards Professor X.

Movie Rating : 8/10

Scholes : Ferocity : Talent

An article written by Jamie Redknapp for Dailymail:

Accident and Emergency departments in hospitals up and down the country can rest easy. Paul Scholes won't be tackling any more. Scholesy was a ferocious tackler, who left the bruises to prove it, but he was a player with the gift of a beautiful range of passing too. He was the complete midfielder.

Now he is calling it a day. It was fitting that his last appearance was in the company of Xavi and Iniesta as a substitute at Wembley last Saturday night. At his best, Scholes would not have looked out of place in the Barcelona passing machine, trading the ball with them.
His passing and his tackling were only two of his qualities. He was an all-action, highly skilled opponent and team-mate.

Winning 10 league titles is not a bad way to go, is it? He must feel he can't play at his peak any more and we know he's not one to make a fuss. That was his way. It was a pleasure for me to play with him for England, but it wasn't a pleasure to play against him. As his team-mate, you always felt you could trust him with the ball. Give it to him and he would invariably give it back.

I especially remember his two goals for England against Scotland at Hampden Park in the play-off for Euro 2000. The Scottish crowd were hostile, but they left talking about 'the wee man with the ginger hair'

As an opponent, he left a few bruises and stud marks by, as he would put it, 'leaving something on' me. I would look at him after and wonder if he meant it - but I knew he did.
People questioned his tackling, doubted his timing, but he was a terrific tackler who meant to leave his foot in. He wanted you to know he was there, although it brought him almost as many red cards as trophies.

He had many good habits too, like passing to a team-mate and scoring important goals. He seemed to save up his best ones against Liverpool and often late in the game.
As well as his passing, both short range and long range, he would intercept the ball too. He was also a master volleyer.

I was surprised at the timing of his announcement. I mentioned in my column two weeks ago that it might happen, but I still hoped we would get one more season out of the player Rio Ferdinand called 'Sat Nav', because he could always find a team-mate. He's up there with the top midfielders of the Premier League era, along with Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs and Patrick Vieira. I will especially miss his drilled daisycutter passes, where he would open his body and switch the play with phenomenal accuracy.

In Xavi's interview in Sportsmail earlier this season, he said Scholes was a pass master who would have been appreciated more if he were born in Spain. I'm not sure about that. Take it from me, he was appreciated here. I'm sorry he won't be rampaging about central midfield any longer. It has been a joy to watch him.

David Beckham: 'He's always one of those people others talk about. At Real Madrid, the players always said to me 'what's he like?' They respect him.'

Laurent Blanc: 'I tell anyone who asks me - Scholes is the best English player.'

Edgar Davids: 'I'm not the best, Paul Scholes is. Every one of us (midfielders) is just trying to become as good as him.'

Cesc Fabregas: 'He is the one whose level I aspire to. He is the best player in the Premier League.'

Thierry Henry: 'Every time we used to play against Manchester United, we always used to be scared of Paul Scholes. His vision, the way he sees the game, his goals ratio... he has indestructible mental strength and he is a genuine competitor.'

Glenn Hoddle: 'There isn't a player of his mould anywhere else in the world.'

Kevin Keegan: 'He is different to anything else in English football.'

Marcello Lippi: 'Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team.'

Wayne Rooney: 'He'll be missed greatly. He's the best I've played with and against. He's only small but it's so difficult to get the ball off him.'

Alan Shearer: 'If you ask footballers to pick out the player they most admire, so many will pick Paul Scholes. He can tackle and his passing and shooting is of the highest level. He's the most consistent and naturally gifted player we've had for a long time.'

Socrates: 'I love to watch Scholes, to see him pass, the boy with the red hair and the red shirt. Good enough for Brazil.'

Terry Venables: 'He's the best one or two-touch passer in the country. He sees the game unlike any other.'

Patrick Vieira: 'The player in the Premiership I admire most? Easy - Scholes.'

Zinedine Zidane: 'Undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation. He's almost untouchable in what he does. He makes the game look easy because he has so much natural ability.'
